Keswick AC Training

General

Details of each week's training session can be found on the Stack app, but you can check out the general schedule below.

If you are a club member and don't yet have Stack, click here to get your access sorted.

Visitors and potential members can have temporary access to Stack here to get a better flavour of what's going on.

Monday night Squat Club

Get fit for the fells with Squat Club on Monday evenings at 6.15pm in Crosthwaite Hall (next to the Co-Op). Led by the fabulous Vic Wilkinson, you'll get an hour of strength and conditioning work for just £5. Bring cash and a yoga mat if you have one.

Squat Club tends only to take place in the darker evenings of Autumn and Winter.

Tuesday night training

Sessions are designed and run by our England Athletics qualified coaches and run leaders. Depending on the time of year and weather, we could be doing hill reps on the fells or fartlek in Fitz Park. Tuesday nights are year-round and details of each session will be published in advance on the Stack app. Mostly we meet at 6.15pm outside the Leisure Centre.

Wednesday Ladies' social runs

This is an informal, mixed ability group aimed at encouraging women’s running in a comfortable and social setting. We have a team of Run Leaders who are all England Athletics trained and take it in turns to lead a run each week.

We’re a friendly group who all share a love of running, love exploring the amazing place we live, and just getting out for a chat each week. We run a bit, stop a bit, chat a bit, take a few photos and generally have a lot of fun.

We understand running with a group can be daunting if you’ve never done it before; as can joining a running club. We’ve all been there ourselves! You’ll find a friendly welcome awaits you as we help you take your first steps. Whether you are new to running or have been doing it for years, we’re open to all, and have runners from their early 20s to their 70s. We usually do runs of about 8-10km, and we run locally on road, trail and fell.

To find out more you can join our Facebook group , with no obligation to become a club member, or contact Debs White on debs@helvellyn.net.

All of our runs are posted on the usual club channels, which include our Facebook feed,  and the Keswick Athletic Club Team App. It really helps us to plan if people sign up on the app to let us know you’re coming.

Hope to see you on the trails sometime soon!

Thursday night training

Thursdays tend to be for the more serious runners and sessions only take place in the winter months as people are saving their legs for racing over the summer. Details as ever in Stack.

Specials

A few times a year our coaches put on special sessions dedicated to building skills and confidence in a particular feature of fell running. These tend to be of longer duration and take place on weekends. Recent sessions have covered navigation, descending, tackling scree slopes and traversing.
